Garnet USA LLC Journeyman Electrician in Alder, Montana
POSITION PURPOSE Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the electrical wellbeing of the plant and equipment ensuring electrical installations are up to code and current electrical standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Electrical • Comply with Garnet USA safety, health, and environmental requirements as per the Employee Handbook plus any other employee-issued policies and notices. • Perform all work in a satisfactory manner as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor or more senior staff. • Promptly report any accidents, incidents or potential hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor or more senior staff. • Assist with maintenance as directed by more senior staff. • Interprets technical drawings to determine the layout of electrical systems • Diagnoses and troubleshoots faulty wiring • Runs tests on generators and other backup systems • Checks for and deploy upgrades of electrical components • Documents problems and prepares reports • Facilitates order of needed electrical components • Perform new construction, installation, removal and repair of electrical components, electrical systems, analysis and diagnosis, advanced troubleshooting, and systems/process optimization. May mentor or train other electrical workers. • Must have strong knowledge in the maintenance and troubleshooting of: AC/DC drives, PLC's, management control systems, calibration of field transmitters/transducers and weigh scales, and high voltage equipment. • Ability to perform installations and renovations compliant with regulatory agency standards. Safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction. • Perform preventative maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e.: substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation, and pneumatic equipment). • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities, always uses plant and equipment correctly. • Ability to oversee projects to be completed by contractors. • Take responsibility for your own safety. • Maintaining a clean working environment. • Presenting a positive and attentive image for Garnet USA. • Cooperate with and be courteous to other employees. • Report immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor or more senior staff any problems with product quality, or equipment that may affect the quality or productivity of Garnet USA’s operations. • Requisition of parts, tools, and spares within designated expenditure limits. • Requisition of repair & service work by approved contractors in line with budgeted maintenance. • Make recommendations for non-budgeted repairs, maintenance, and replacements. • Other duties as deemed necessary RELATIONSHIPS | The Electrician is required to develop and maintain constructive relationships with multiple stakeholders. SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Relevant hands-on experience preferred • Completed a 4-year apprenticeship program • Electrician license or certification • In-depth knowledge of electrical principles, construction, wiring schematics • Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other safety standards • Design and install new switchgear and 3-phase electrical circuits. • Active input in preventative maintenance • Help plan projects/schedule work (i.e., down days) • Plan workday according to priorities SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES • Willing to learn and take on extra responsibilities. • Able to show initiative and work with minimum supervision. • Reliable • Strong analytical and organizational skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
