BILLINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 2 CAREER COACH in BILLINGS, Montana

Billings School District 2 is seeking a Career Coach for the Billings Early College School. Location: Washington Innovation Center. Schedule 10 Month Position; Monday - Friday; Eight hours per day; 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Starts August 2024. Wage: $22.08 per hour for 120-day probationary period, then $24.53 per hour plus benefits. Billings Public Schools is hiring a Career Coach for the Washington Innovation Center. The Career Coach works as part of a team with the Career Coaches (located at Skyview, Senior, West, and the Career Center) and the Career Outreach Director. The role of the Career Coach is to help middle and high school students make more informed and better educational and career choices while connecting them to business partners in their field of interest. This position will work as part of a team that develops and fosters relationships with Billings private and public sector employers with the goal of offering work-based learning opportunities such as job shadow, internships, and apprenticeships within our community. The Career Coach will help students navigate current high school course offerings, career options, the type of academic and occupational training needed to succeed in the workplace, and post-secondary opportunities that are associated with their field of interest. The Career Coach will provide teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents with information they can use to support students' career exploration and post-secondary educational opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Connects a diverse student population to opportunities that fit their career goals. - Advocates for students within the business community and networks with professionals to create work-based learning opportunities for students. - Serves as a point of contact for students engaging in work-based learning and the business professionals providing those opportunities in the community. Follow up is essential. - Supports middle school and high school teachers and counselors as they provide career development opportunities for students. - Assists in the development and implementation of BPS's "Future Ready" initiative. - Leads Future Ready marketing efforts with students to promote opportunities to get involved in work-based learning within school and the business community. - Highlights students successes within the community and school with a goal of creating awareness of BPS's efforts around "Future Ready." - Gathers and analyzes student data related to CTE and work-based learning. - Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Public Schools. - Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development, meets all mandatory organizational requirements. - Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or Equivalent. - Bachelor's Degree Preferred. - Demonstrated work experience of the essential functions of this position. - Must have the ability to explain opportunities to students and enrollment procedures for classes in their field of interest. - Excellent communication skills and ability to speak with a diverse cross section of community members, school faculty/staff, parents, and students.
