Position Details
General Statement
The person in this position will perform skilled journeyman electrical work under supervision of an Electrician Foreman. Duties include: installing wire, outlets, fixtures, and other equipment in maintaining extensions, additions, or alterations in electrical service for power, heat, ventilation, refrigeration, and lighting; performing preventative and routine maintenance including cleaning, oiling, inspecting, and adjusting of wiring systems and equipment; testing, replacing, and repairing components of defective and worn out systems and equipment; reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications; sketching circuits; serving as a lead worker over other personnel as assigned and performing related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform skilled journeyman work as an electrician in all areas listed above.
Execute preventive maintenance program as per Facilities standards.
Prepare material lists of non-stock and/or specialty items needed to accomplish assigned projects, follow up to determine timely schedule in accordance with delivery dates.
Respond to and take appropriate action to resolve emergency calls during working hours, after hours, weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
High school graduation or equivalent, plus successful completion of a four year electrical apprenticeship program or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
Must have a valid Journeyman Electricians License. If not licensed in Montana, please refer to the Montana State Electrical Board. (https://boards.bsd.dli.mt.gov/electrical/#1?2)
Working knowledge of the principles, measures, standards, symbols, materials, tools, and hazards of the electrical trade.
Demonstrated competence installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing wiring systems, motor controls, equipment and related apparatus with voltages ranging from 120volt to 480volt systems.
Demonstrated competence accurately reading blueprints and wiring diagrams and sketching circuits.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) journey-level maintenance electrical experience as an inside wireman is highly preferred.
Current (or must be willing to obtain) NICET Level II certification for fire alarm maintenance.
Experience in buried and overhead high voltage (above 600 volts) maintenance, switching, and terminating.
General knowledge of and experience troubleshooting fire alarm systems, motor controls, commercial kitchen equipment, etc.

Physical Demands
Works under all weather conditions, with high voltages. Position requires the transport of heavy materials and equipment. Work areas include roofs, poles, manholes and other difficult access locations. Perform regular investigations of facilities systems and equipment which involve accessing confined areas, vaults, tunnels, ascending/descending roofs, catwalks, and ladders; and exposure to temperature extremes and noise. This position may transport up to 50lbs while ascending/descending stairs; perform overhead work; safely and effectively operate a wide variety of tools, equipment and vehicles.
