Touro University Simulation Specialist in Great Falls, Montana
Overview
The Simulation Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administrative and technical duties associated with the medical simulation program and the Department of Primary Care.
Responsibilities
The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.
Day to day operations and coordination of the simulation program
Maintain and enhance current knowledge on the use and operation of different simulator technologies
Program, operate, and maintain video system (in conjunction with the IT Department)
Assist in operation, maintenance, and support of mannequins, task trainers, and simulators
Assure simulation equipment is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations; troubleshoot all simulation equipment
Inventory management including maintain inventory and purchasing records
Manage, order and stock supplies and equipment
Maintain warranty and service contracts on simulators
Supervise preventive maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations.
Monitor scheduled maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational.
Work with manufacturers or vendors to correct equipment deficiencies in order to minimize down time.
Research vendors for supplies and equipment, obtain bids, and make purchasing recommendations
Teaching as appropriate
Supervise participants in use of simulation equipment
Maintain simulation space as a clean, safe, and operational facility
Assist with simulation scenario design, programming and execution
Support the development of course curricula using simulation
Assist in recruiting, training, coordinating and assessing Standardized Patients
Perform simulator and room set-up and break down for simulations and Department Courses
Scheduling simulations
Scheduling Faculty, Actors and Students for simulations
Provide orientation on equipment and simulation spaces as needed
Support the goals of the simulation program and of TouroCOM
Special projects as directed by the Chair and/or Vice Chair of the Department
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Medical Training such as EMT, RN or Paramedic preferred
Experience with medical simulation is preferred
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical skills
Ability to multi-task and maintain a high degree of accuracy
Significant demonstrated experience in computer use, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Ability to learn and master proprietary software
Understanding of audio-visual equipment
Understanding of medical equipment, both electronic and mechanical.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook,and Excel
