St. John's Lutheran Ministries Manager of Five Valley's At Home in Missoula, Montana

This position is located in Missoula Montana Summary: Responsible for meeting internally agreed upon annual goals and assist in the marketing and development of Five Valleys and St. John’s United. Responsible for creating a nurturing environment for Members and provides or coordinates and services to meet their needs within an environment of hope, dignity and love when needed. Responsible for overseeing, leading, directing, and motivating staff. Internal Relationships: The Manager of Five Valley’s At Home has weekly contact with Members, staff Members, volunteers and member’s family in completing their assigned job functions. External Relationships: The Manager of Five Valley’s At Home has contact with other community businesses, agencies to coordinate care for Members as need, donors and, community members to further the mission of St. John’s United. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Lead, direct, and motivate volunteers, the Foundation Board and its related committees. * Achieve internally agreed upon annual goals. * Successfully achieve the Annual Fund Campaign goals. * Assist, in conjunction with the Planning Team, in the development of the St. John’s vision, story and case statement. * Assist, in conjunction with Five Valley’s Foundation, in the development of the vision, story, and goals. * Manage, in conjunction with the Board of Finance Committee and St. John’s accounting staff, the Foundation’s finances and endowment funds. Assure that designated gifts are spent accurately and timely. * Implement a meaningful donor recognition plan. * Make friends on behalf of St. John’s. * Research, nurture and solicit individuals and organizations who are potential donors. * Introduce at least 5 new contacts per month to St. John's and its ministry. * Make at least 5 follow-up contacts per month on current or potential friends of St. John’s. * Develop, recommend, and implement goals for a Planned Giving program. * Research, write, and present Foundation grant proposals. * Manage St. John’s Public Relations efforts inclusive of printed materials, news stories, and community events. * Prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports. * Work in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation with all St. John's staff. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Operations * Support the Mission and Ministry of St. John’s United and Five Valley’s. * Will be the liaison between the team, families, volunteers, community members, and all other members of the staff. * Is responsible for calling and conducting team meetings, when needed. * Monitors equipment abuse and takes steps to keep it to a minimum. * Evaluates effectiveness and efficiency. * Maintains compliance with applicable federal, state, accrediting bodies and local rules and regulations. * Supervises all business affairs. * Develops, implements, and evaluates financial policies and procedures and records. * Participates in personal professional growth and development. * Coordinates with other departments and management as appropriate. * Maintains current knowledge of local trends and issues. * Appoints a similar qualified alternate to be available during all times during operating hours in the absence of the Manager. * Must fulfill all grant, or other funding source, requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Staff Support * Effectively communicates job expectations to team. * Must understand and be able to complete the tasks of a Service Coordinator. * Assists staff with finding coverage when necessary, if coverage cannot be found the Executive Director of Five Valley’s will need to fill in to take care of necessary duties. * Rotates on-call schedule with other staff for staff call-ins, and after hour calls. * Maintains quality of service. * Assists with monitoring, and appraisal of job performance under the supervision of At Home Director. * Coaches, counsels, and helps discipline employees under the supervision of At Home Director. * Assists in the hiring process of new team members. * Ensures all staff is appropriately trained via apprenticeship checklist; including, but not limited to, orientation, in-service education and continuing education. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Reporting * Will document when it is required into the electronic health record that is being used. * Consistently follows, and updates when necessary, policies and procedures. * Documents employee problems in personnel files, and follows St. John’s United disciplinary policy. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Communication * Establishes and maintains effective channels of communication. * Will work hand in hand with Service Coordinators and the Director of At Home to communicate all information regarding staffing levels, staff communication, and any staffing or scheduling challenges. * Meet regularly with community-based organizations (CBOs), local leaders and other notables to keep them informed about the At Home program and services. * Maintain two way communication with employees and fair administration of personnel policies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Marketing/Member Paperwork * Will be responsible for marketing to the public through events, advertisement, etc. * Assess and meet with interested clients, usually in their home, to go over the At Home program. * Must sufficiently fill out all required paperwork with Members for admissions, transfers and discharges. * Ensures the accuracy of public information materials and activities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee Responsibilities * Follows policy and procedures on initial TB testing. * Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations. * Attends all mandatory in-services. * Attends and participates in scheduled training and education classes to maintain current certification in accord with the State of Montana. Knowledge, Skills/Abilities, Work Experience REQUIREMENTS * Prior experience in human service or health care setting preferred. * Possess an accredited degree, or equivalent experience, or be willing and attain and learn quickly, in Planned Giving, marketing, public relations, communication, fund development, law or business. * Be knowledgeable regarding various types of fund development campaigns, the fund development process, and Planned Giving. * Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience with grant proposals and working with the media preferred. * Be self-directed, highly responsive and possess strong inter-personal skills. * Montana Driver’s License with clean record. * Must possess a current Montana State Nurses Aide Certification, or have completed the SJU CNA Course and will obtain certification within 120 days of class completion. Complexity/Difficulty This position requires the ability to function independently in performing assigned duties. The incumbent needs to be able to respond to management, staff and Members in a timely and professional manner. Incumbent needs to perform job duties by following established procedures and report any problems or concerns to director.
