Electrical Utility Department Foreman/Manager for the City of Troy. Position: Foreman /ManagerDepartment: Electric UtilityAccountable To: MayorSummary of work: Performs tasks in accordance to industry practices in the construction and maintenance of electric power lines to provide electric power to consumers.Job Characteristics:A. Nature of Work: This position performs skilled duties requiring work outdoors. Position may work in adverse weather and extreme temperatures. Position will be on call weekends and holidays and works outside normal hours for emergencies and for scheduled overtime. Hazards of position include working with high voltage and transmission lines, climbing poles, working with heavy equipment and hazardous waste. Adherence to safety precautions is required. B. Personal Contacts: Daily contact with the public and fellow employees.C. Supervision Received: Supervision from Mayor as needed.D. Supervision Exercised: Supervises Journeyman lineman, Apprentice lineman and other crew members as assigned.E. Essential Functions: Position requires ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds, operate heavy equipment, operate hand and power tools, climb poles, work at heights above ground, walk distances on rough terrain, calculate, maintain records and files, do budgeting, know and apply principles of electricity in a safe manner.Job Requirements: A. Knowledge: This position requires an extensive knowledge of the principles of electricity, knowledge of building and design of electrical systems, safety codes, OSHA 1910.269, knowledge of calculating loads on transformers and budgeting for electric utility.B. Skills: This position requires skills in installing and repairing electrical systems, skills in operating heavy equipment such as backhoe, bucket truck, digger truck, boom truck, skills in using a chain saw and skills in budgeting and record keeping.C. Abilities: This position requires the ability to know and follow safety procedures, supervise, climb, carry heavy materials, work at heights, walk distance on uneven ground, maintain records, communicate effectively orally and in writing, follow verbal and written instructions, establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors and the public. Education and Experience:The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:A. A High School Diploma or GEDB. Experience in all phases of electrical distribution system.C. Must possess a valid commercial driver?S license with being able to obtain a Montana CDL within six (6) months of hiring date.D. Successful completion of Apprenticeship program and five (5) years experience as a Journeyman Lineman.Starting wages are $32.22 per hour, with scheduled overtime, standby time, and call outs for power outages. Benefit package includes: Health Insurance per months $83.20 (as of 7/01/20), 12 days paid sick leave per year, 15 days paid vacation per year, 11 paid holidays, a clothing allowance, retirement through the Public Employees Retirement System, and membership with IBEW Local Union 768.
