The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as an Carpenter at Montana State Hospital. The Carpenter is responsible for maintaining and repairing all buildings on campus including, but not limited to roofs, walls, ceilings, and floor; performing remodeling or new construction. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity: * * · Ability to interpret architectural blueprints, diagrams and plans. · Ability to calculate material requirements for projects. · Ability to construct wooden structures such as concrete forms, frameworks and scaffolding. · Ability to install wooden elements such as frames, stairways and furniture. · Ability to inspect for structural integrity post installation/maintenance. · Ability to manage inventory and supplies. · Ability to adhere to safety policies and regulations. · Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. · Ability to apply critical thinking skills. · Ability to complete general math calculations. · Ability to work in various conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. · Meet the following minimum qualifications: o High school diploma or equivalent. o Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program. § Or completion of a two-year trade school. o Two years of job-related experience preferred. o Certification as a journeyman carpenter preferred. * * How to Apply *To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
